Choosing the right kitchen blinds depends entirely on your kitchen’s size, layout and use. If you are an avid cook and spend a lot of time creating delicious meals for your family and friend, then the type of blinds you choose will be different to that of someone who uses their kitchen to heat up FitChef meals.

So let’s dive in and take a look at some of the things you will need to consider.

When it comes to kitchens, size matters. Well, actually ventilation matters which is predominantly determined by the size of your kitchen. If your kitchen is large open airy then the world is your oyster when it comes to picking your kitchen blinds.

If your kitchen is smaller you might want to consider how much steam and smoke fill the room when you are cooking. If it does get pretty steamy then stay away from wood blinds because they aren’t the biggest fans of moisture which can cause them to warp and twist.

Most modern kitchens have practical layouts with stoves beneath extractor fans, double basins, and space for a dishwasher. In these cases, you have the freedom to choose whichever kitchen blinds you fancy.

If however, your kitchen is like mine, with the stove beneath the window with no extractor fan and although it has a double basin, there isn’t a space for a dishwasher meaning my sink is often full of hot steamy soapy water then you need to consider your choice carefully.

The battle is against moisture. It makes wood warp and material mould. So consider the layout and how your blinds might be affected by the position of your stove and sink.

If you spend a lot of time in your kitchen you need to make sure your choice of kitchen blinds are both practical and aesthetically pleasing.

Blinds in busy kitchens need more care to keep them looking good and free of oil and watermarks than those in less busy kitchens.
